Labor Day Races: Meghan Peyton to Compete at USA 20k Championships in New Haven; Kevin Lewis at Victory 10k in Minneapolis
Minneapolis/St. Paul – Aug. 28, 2018 – Two Team USA Minnesota distance runners will toe the line on Labor Day with Meghan Peyton traveling to New Haven, Conn., to compete in the USATF 20k Championships, and Kevin Lewis will run the Victory 10k in Minneapolis.
The USATF 20k Championships are part of the Faxon Law New Haven Road Races and will start at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern) on Sept. 3. The event was first held in 1978. It has hosted the women’s 20k Championship since 2006 and the men’s 20k Championship since 1993.
Peyton is the 2013 champion of the women’s USA 20k race and has a best of 1:09:57 in the distance.
Lewis will head to north Minneapolis to run in the Victory 10k presented by the Minnesota Distance Running Association. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. and is the site of the USATF Minnesota Fall 10k Road Championships.
This will be Lewis’ first time running the Victory 10k. He has a best on the track in the 10,000m of 28:32 which he set in June and then placed 13th in the 10,000m at the USATF Outdoor Championships that same month.
