Team USA Minnesota Runners Will Be at the Life Time Torchlight 5k to ‘Run with Fire’ on July 18 at 7:30 p.m.; Kevin Lewis Wins Midnight Madness 10k in Ames; Kevin Lewis Wins Midnight Madness 10k in Ames; Danny Docherty, Breanna Sieracki Win Hopkins Mile

 
Minneapolis/St. Paul – July 16, 2018 – The Team USA Minnesota distance runners – Meghan Peyton, Breanna Sieracki, Emilee Trost, Katy Jermann, Tyler Jermann and Danny Docherty along with training partners Joel Reichow and Dakotah Lindwurm – will be at the Life Time Torchlight 5k to “Run with Fire” on Wednesday, July 18, in Minneapolis.  The annual Torchlight 5k, with over 4,500 participants expected, starts at 7:30 p.m.
 
The Torchlight 5k – which precedes the city’s Aquatennial Parade - starts near Loring Park and winds through the streets of downtown Minneapolis, goes over the Stone Arch Bridge at the Mississippi River, and finishes in the St. Anthony Main Park.  The race is also the 2018 USATF Minnesota Team Circuit 5k Championship.
 
The team’s distance runners plan to either race the 5k, or use it as a mid-summer tempo or easy run, as they prepare for the fall racing season.
 
Race Results – July 14-15
Kevin Lewis returned to his native Iowa over the weekend and came away with the win in the 44th annual Midnight Madness 10k in Ames on July 14.  His time was 30:33 in the race that began at 8:30 p.m.
 
Closer to home at the Hopkins Raspberry Festival’s Main Street Mile, held at noon on July 15 in Hopkins, Minn., Danny Docherty was first in the men’s field with a time of 4:11, while Breanna Sieracki and Emilee Trost were first and second in the women’s mile with times of 4:46 and 4:53 respectively.
