March 10: Katy Moen, Kevin Lewis to Compete at USA 15k Champs in Jacksonville; Tyler Jermann, Ryan Rutherford to Run in O’Gara’s 8k in St. Paul
Minneapolis/St. Paul – March 6, 2018 – Team USA Minnesota’s Katy Moen and Kevin Lewis will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, this weekend to compete in the USATF 15k Championships hosted by the Gate River Run on March 10. Back in St. Paul, Tyler Jermann and Ryan Rutherford will run in O’Gara’s Irish Run 8k, also on March 10.
The 41st annual Gate River Run 15k has over 14,000 participants and features a $5,000 “equalizer bonus” for the elite field. The elite women will start at 7:54 a.m. followed by the elite men and the first wave of runners at 8:00 a.m. The race starts and finishes at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.
Moen will be making her first appearance at the 15k with Lewis running the race for the second time. Both most recently competed in the Aramco Houston Half Marathon in January.
The O’Gara’s Irish Run 8k in St. Paul is the site of the 2018 USATF Minnesota 8k Championships and will start at 10:00 a.m. Jermann is returning to racing after placing seventh with a personal best 2:16:39 at the Chevron Houston Marathon in January. Rutherford is opening his spring season with the 8k and will move to track competitions later in the month.
