Nov. 11:  Heather Kampf to Compete in Brooks Mile in Las Vegas; Meghan Peyton, Katy Jermann at Monterey Bay Half Marathon; Breanna Sieracki, Joel Reichow to Run in USATF MN XC Champs

Minneapolis/St. Paul – Nov. 8, 2018 – Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners will compete on Nov. 11, with Heather Kampf at the Brooks Beasts Desert Throwdown Mile in Las Vegas; Meghan Peyton and Katy Jermann traveling to the West Coast to run in the Monterey Bay Half Marathon; and Breanna Sierecki and Joel Reichow staying close to home for the USATF Minnesota Cross Country Championships.
Kampf, a four-time USATF Road Mile champion with a best of 4:21, will be part of the one-mile invitational field of 22 female and male runners who will compete in the Brooks Beasts Desert Throwdown which will be run on the Las Vegas Strip.  This brand new professional mile race is hosted by Brooks Running and the Rock N Roll Marathon series.  The mile race starts at 3:45 p.m. (Pacific).
Further out West, Peyton and Jermann will be among the competitors at the Monterey Bay Half Marathon which starts at 6:50 a.m. (Pacific).  The race features an Equalizer Bonus with female elite runners given an approximate 9-minute head start on an out-and-back course that begins in downtown Monterey and goes along the Pacific Grove shoreline.
Peyton has a best in the half marathon of 1:13:43 and Jermann has run 1:12:58 in the distance.  Both runners are preparing for upcoming marathons.
Here in the Twin Cities, Sierecki and Reichow will run in the USATF Minnesota Cross Country Championships which will be held at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve.  The 6 km race begins at 10:00 a.m.  Sierecki was first in the women’s field in 2017.  Both runners are using the cross country race as a tune-up for the USATF Club Cross Country Championships that will be held in Spokane on Dec. 8.
