Gabriel Zambrano victorious in the half marathon while Sarah Crouch takes top spot in women’s race

(March 25, 2018) – Approximately 12,000 runners aged 12-81 took to the streets of Dallas this weekend to participate in the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon. With a renewed focus on the core pillars of bringing fun to the run with great music in a community environment, runners of all athletic levels enjoyed taking in the sights and scenery in the heart of Texas.

The best-in-class running event kicked off on Saturday with a 5K through Fair Park in Cotton Bowl Plaza. On Sunday, runners from 43 states and 21 countries took off on a tour of downtown Dallas including the spectacular sights of Deep Ellum, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, The Bishop Arts District and Houston Street Bridge where participants received a firsthand look at the Dallas skyline before finishing at The Lawn at Reunion.

In the half marathon, 24-year-old Gabriel Zambrano (Fort Worth, Texas) broke the tape as the overall champion in a time of 1:10:46. Jacob Krolik (Canyon, Texas) finished in second with a time of 1:13:10 as Logan Sherman (Dallas, Texas) rounded out the podium in third finishing in 1:13:35. Sarah Crouch (Flagstaff, Ariz.) was the women’s half marathon champion with a final time of 1:19:05. Caitlin Keen (Fort Worth, Texas) took the second-place spot in 1:20:48 and Kristin Garcia (Fort Worth, Texas) finished third in 1:25:40.

Elite runners and fast times aside, Sunday’s race was all about the party. Some of Dallas’ best live bands performed on improved band stages along the route, interspersed with themed water stations and the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders lining the final stretch. Participants moved along to more music than ever with all new mile-markers that included speakers and race pacers who ran with mobile speaker packs.

The musically themed road race concluded with Hayes Carll taking to the stage as headliners for the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series, getting runners and their families to their feet in celebration of the days accomplishments.
